Matt 8:5-13
A
Roman centurion understood something that the Jews did not. What was
it? Seeing the spiritual world through faith is critical if we are to
live by faith. 2 Corinth 5:7. The Centurion knew that there were
spiritual authorities and that Jesus was at the top of that realm.
Eph 6:12
What does this tell us about the dark side of the spiritual realm?
- Satan has rulers and authorities that have some power.
- When we think we have issues with people it really is an issue between us and satan and his dark forces.
How does that make you feel?
Daniel 10:10-14
What does this tell you about the light side of the spiritual realm?
1. There are spiritual authorities that do battle with the dark side.
2. Some have more authority than others. (Michael was on of the Chief Princes) God sees
to it that he wins
Job 1:6-12
What does this interaction between God and satan tell you about this spiritual world?
- Satan has to ask permission to tempt and test us.
- God puts boundaries as to have much tempting and testing He allows satan. (1Corinth 10:13)
- God is proud of us when we choose to be righteous.
- God puts a hedge around us so that satan can't touch us.
Why do you think God allows satan any leeway at all?
How does God use satan's tempting and testing for our own good?
Mark 5:1-18
What do we learn about the spiritual realm from this passage?
- No matter what authority or how many the dark side has, they are no match for Jesus.
- As we stay connected to Jesus we will have his same power. (1John 4:4)
- No matter how hopeless we may feel, Jesus is able to conquer and overcome.
CHALLENGE : How do we tap this power
- Believe -- John 14:12 -- We must open our eyes to the spiritual
realm and believe it exist and the Jesus is the commander and chief. We
must also believe that his power is available for us and is at work
within us.
- Pray- John 14:13 -- Believing prayer connects us to God and his power
- Decide and Act-- Hebrews 10:38-39 -- We must decide not to shrink back but to take steps of faith.
